SNAP, MCKINSTRY & AVISTA TEAM UP TO DISTRIBUTE ENERGY SAVING KITS
Spokane, Wash. – October is Energy Action Awareness Month and Wednesday, Oct. 30 is National Weatherization Day. SNAP is celebrating all month long by highlighting our Weatherization Assistance Program. SNAP’s weatherization services help low-income families improve their home’s energy efficiency, lowering bills and increasing comfort with free upgrades like insulation and window replacements.
Later this month, SNAP, in partnership with McKinstry and Avista Utilities, will distribute 600 FREE energy saving kits at the Catalyst Building at 601 E. Riverside Avenue in Spokane. The Drive-Thru event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 9 am to 2 pm, while supplies last. This unique collaboration has taken place annually for several years.

“Building SNAP Energy Kits helps me connect the work that I do across the Pacific Northwest, with the local community that I live in,” explained Dale Silha – McKinstry Vice President of Energy and Technical Services. “It feels good to help make a positive impact for those in need within our community and at the same time support such an impactful organization like SNAP.”
In a committed effort to support sustainability and community welfare, the McKinstry team will assemble the energy conservation kits, using items provided by Avista Utilities, on Wednesday, Oct 23. The kits will include energy saving light bulbs, window plastic, weather stripping, and cloth draft stoppers, all designed to help local community members lower their energy usage and bills as we head into the winter.
“McKinstry’s Building Good program is one of the things I love most about working here. Over the past couple of years, our Spokane team has hosted Energy Savings Kit Building events with our community partner, SNAP,” said Bri Kastning – Sr. Manager People Operations – McKinstry. “It has been a truly rewarding experience and a privilege to be able to give back to the community.”
SNAP is grateful for their ongoing partnership with McKinstry and Avista, whose unwavering support makes this annual event possible. We encouraged you to join us at the Catalyst Building at 601 E. Riverside Avenue in Spokane on Thursday, Oct. 24 to take part in this impactful event.
