Second round of heating assistance appointments for this season
SNAP will open the second round of heating assistance appointments for the 2016/17 heating season on Tuesday, December 13. The appointments are available to those who have not yet received heating assistance since October 1, 2016.
Eligible Spokane County individuals can call (509) 242-2376 or go to snapwa.org, starting at 8:30 am on December 13, to make an appointment. SNAP has six appointment locations in the Spokane area including Cheney, Airway Heights and the Spokane Valley. “We have 7800 appointment slots available during this round and we encourage people to apply before they are behind on their bill” said Carol Weltz, Energy Operations Coordinator. Heating assistance is income based, not an emergency program, so all households with a qualifying income are encouraged to apply. Heating assistance can help a struggling household free up money to pay for other essential expenses like food or rent – a shut-off notice is NOT required to receive heating assistance.
