What Is the Client Advisory Council?
SNAP is inviting clients to help shape the future of our programs by joining the Client Advisory Council. This group offers feedback, shares ideas, and helps ensure our services reflect the needs of our community.
Council members provide input on:
- Programs and services
- Client needs and experiences
- Technology tools
- Policies, planning, and advocacy efforts

WHO SHOULD JOIN?
We’re looking for individuals who:
- Have used services from SNAP, SNAP Financial Access, or SNAP Resource Rides
- Are comfortable sharing ideas and offering constructive advice
- Want to make a difference in Spokane County
NOTE: Training is provided for all members when they join and as needed.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
As a Council member, you’ll:
- Help review services to ensure they meet client and community needs
- Test and provide feedback on new tools and technology
- Connect SNAP with other community groups and neighborhoods
- Contribute to SNAP’s Community Needs Assessment
- Offer input on policies, projects, and advocacy efforts
TIME COMMITMENT
Monthly, 1.5 hour meetings throughout the year. A minimum two-year commitment is requested with the opportunity to continue. Additional time may be needed to complete projects or attend community events.
STIPENDS & SUPPORT
- Members receive a stipend for each meeting attended
- If child care is needed, an additional stipend may be available

MEMBER SELECTION
A team from across SNAP programs will review applicants. Selection is based on:
- Your interest in the Council
- Ensuring diverse voices from Spokane County neighborhoods
- Including clients from a variety of SNAP services
BACKGROUND CHECK INFORMATION
SNAP welcomes all who are interested in making a difference. As part of our process, we conduct background checks for everyone who joins the Council. If something comes up in your check, we’ll talk with you about it to understand the circumstances. The staff member overseeing the Client Advisory Council will speak with any candidates who have background checks including 1) felony sex offenses, 2) felony violent crimes against another person in the last three years and/or 3) felony financial crimes (identify theft, theft from a vulnerable adult etc.) within the last three years. SNAP will follow and adhere to the Adverse Action process required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
