Lucy Lepinski Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award for Affordable Housing Advocacy
Lucy Lepinski, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at SNAP, was recently recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field of affordable housing. She was honored with the prestigious Margaret M. Sevy Affordable Housing Lifetime Achievement Award by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC). The award ceremony took place at the 2023 Housing Washington Conference, which marked its 40th Anniversary Oct. 3 – 5, 2023 at the Tacoma Convention Center.

Throughout a career spanning three decades, Lepinski has exemplified visionary leadership and a dedication to equitable affordable housing. Her impressive track record includes the development and renovation of over 850 housing units. In addition to her contributions to the housing sector, Lucy Lepinski was a founding member of the Human Rights Education Institute (HREI) in the 1990s, where she stood against racism from the Aryan Nations.
Recognizing the critical role of services in housing stability, Lucy championed SNAP Resource Rides, a program that has provided over 10,000 rides to seniors and those in need in Spokane over the past three years.
Before her tenure at SNAP, Lucy served as the Director of Assets at the Spokane Housing Authority, where she stabilized properties, advocated for housing policies, plans, and funding, and strengthened the housing system for the community.
As Lucy prepares for retirement in April 2024, her impressive contributions continue to resonate. Her role as SNAP’s COO has driven the organization’s growth and furthered its mission to enhance the human potential of the community by offering opportunities to those in need. Lucy Lepinski’s legacy and dedication to affordable housing will be celebrated for years to come and will serve as inspiration for SNAP as it continues to serve the Spokane area’s neighbors in need.
